Meet Tom Garrity

My name is Tom Garrity and I’m the managing Partner of Compass Point Consulting, LLC.  I’m a business strategy and ownership-transition expert with extensive experience in family businesses, working with ownership and their executive teams.

My background is all about working in family businesses and includes growing up in several of them myself.  I built several distribution operations, and switched to sales with a large middle market family business in the building products industry. I am a former president of two early stage, family business manufacturing companies in the fabric-building and factory automation industries. All this extensive business development experience, broad leadership positions and a practical financial analysis background would become the seed for helping other owners and executives.

That seed grew into Compass Point in 2003. My love for family businesses comes from my belief that strong families can build phenomenal companies for generations to come. As a Certified Exit Planning Advisor with the Exit Planning Institute and a Certified Coach with Gazelles International, a strategic planning association, I spend 100 hours annually in professional development.  I never stop learning and I take that back to my clients.

I love being a part of this Lehigh Valley community and give my time through a number of volunteer commitments, including:

  • Board for the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, since 2006, which is driving a $34B economy in the Lehigh Valley, PA.  Served as the Chairman of the board 2013 - 2014
  • Chairman of the Board for The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace
  • Board member for the Presidents Council at DeSales University
  • Active member of Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce
  • Contributing writer at Lehigh Valley Business Journal
  • Active member at his home parish, St Thomas More, Allentown
